• Apparition - Spirit that manifests in a strong visual presence. Identifiable often by the naked eye.

• Automatic Writing - When a psychic medium uses a writing utensil to communicate with the spirit world by allowing a presence to move usually a pen or pencil in their hand.

• Cold Spot/Pillar - Used to describe an unusually cold area that is usually confined to a small space. This area may move from place to place in a haunted location.

• EMF Meter - An Electro Magnetic Field Meter which is commonly used by ghost investigators to detect the presence of a spirit. AC Meters are usually used to weed out artificial fields and DC meters for detecting the presence of a ghost. Recently this technology has become more controversial however.

• ESP - Or Extra Sensory Perception is thought to be an underdeveloped sense in most people. Essentially known to most people as psychic ability.

• EVP - Electronic Voice Phenomena is the audio recording of nearly inaudible noises thought to have been produced by ghosts.

• Historically Repeating Haunt - An event or person that is thought to have been traumatic or important and repeats itself in history. The idea that a significant happening can etch itself into a location and repeat itself in the form of an apparition.

• Mist - Appearance on a photo of a mist-like substance floating in the air that did not appear physically to the naked eye at the time of the photo.
